Griffith
Park 2005 Sidecar Rally
I've heard about this one for a number of
years, but this is the first time we rode over to see the sidecar rally in
LA's Griffith Park. Check out our photos from this event...

A Kawasaki KLR 650 with a
sidecar. |
Dennis Cunningham's Iron Butt
BMW rig. |
| 11,000 miles in 11
days.
Let's see, that would be about 1,000 miles
a day. Wow. |
This is a Ural factory paint
job. Alex didn't leave this machine stock, though. Check out
the engine. |
| Yep, that's a BMW engine grafted
into a Ural.
Impressive. |
A Ural display in Griffith Park. |
| Another close-up of a
Ural. This is the Ural engine. |
| One of the Griffith Park riders. |
Check out the paint scheme on
this Ural. I believe this is a factory paint job, too.
Do you see the machine gun mount at the
front of the sidecar? |
| Wild colors. |
No sidecar, but a very slick
machine. |
The owner of this rig had the
vintage decals custom made. |
A 550 Honda Four with a
sidecar. The gas tank has a Mitsubishi logo on it.
I have no idea why. |
Help! |
An anthropomorphic dummy handing
out candy. |
| A very seasonal helmet. |
Sidecar-equipped bikes do better
with Earles front forks. BMW used to have these on all of
their machines.
This is a custom installation on a
Harley-Davidson. |
| Another Earles forks setup. |
Two attendees checking out a
Harley. |
A Vespa with a sidecar. |
| An old three-wheel Morgan.
The V-twin engine is mounted up front.
As a three-wheeler, it is legally
considered a motorcycle. |
An interior shot of the Morgan. |
A Kawasaki police bike with a
sidecar and a custom paint job. |
Cool tank art. |
An old XS1100 Yamaha road
warrior, Mad Max style. |
A Triumph triple with a sidecar. |
Check out this old BSA V-twin
with a boat-styled sidecar. |
| The Beezer's V-twin engine. |
Another gorgeous V-twin engine
on an immaculate Vincent. |
A dog with a blue eye, out for a
day in the sidecar. |
| Help again! |
This fellow had a really cool
museum of motorcycle paraphernalia on display in an old Airstream trailer. |
| Another Vespa with a
sidecar. You gotta wonder how these things get up hills. |
Another older Beemer with a
sidecar. |
This is a Steib sidecar on a
BMW. Notice the Earles forks again. |
No sidecar, but a cool Panhead
Harley chopper with an Indian tank badge.
Identity crisis, I guess. |
