Scenes of
the Cerro Noroeste
My good friend Dave and I took
yesterday off to ride the KLRs along the Cerro Noestre Road (one of
Caliifornia's best) and shoot a bit with our Nikons. Our ride took us
through San Bernardino, LA, Ventura, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and
Kern counties. Great day and a glorious ride...

|
| We saw this sign as soon as we
got on the Cerro Noestre Road just north of Frazier Park...we didn't see
any bears, though... |
 |
 |
That's my '06 KLR in front, and
Dave's '08 right behind it. These are great motorcycles. |
| The Cerro Noestre Road has great
scenery and curves...it is a real blast to ride. There was almost no
traffic. |

Dave and I posing in front of
the KLRs. I brought my tripod with me. This shot was with the Tokina
12-24, which is a great lens. |
| At one of the many turnouts
where we stopped to shoot photos... |
 |
 |
Looking out across the central
California desert. Taft and Maricopa are off in the distance... |
| Cerro Noestre is one of many
great roads we have in California.... |
 |
 |
Another shot along the Cerro
Noestre Road. We were getting close to the other end of this great road at
this point... |
| We didn't see any California
Condors, either... |
 |
 |
We hooked up with California 33,
and turned right to head toward Maricopa... |
| Playing around with the
self-timer in Tina's restaurant on my Nikon, using the 12-24 and available
light...it was pretty hot that day... |
 |
 |
Lunch at Tina's in downtown
Maricopa...this place is great... |
 |
We took the Lockwood Valley Road
on our way back... |
| A shot chasing Dave on Lockwood
Valley Road... |
 |
| After that we headed into Lake
Elizabeth and stopped for some iced tea. It was really getting hot. We
took 14 south just a bit and got on Angeles Forest Road. Dave and I split
up at Mt Emma Road; I took it around the north side of the San Gabriel
Mountains through Wrightwood, and then home. It was a fun ride...I did
just under 400 miles that day.
